Trama Semana de Fotografía is a week of lectures, projections and exhibitions put together by a group of local photographers working within 411 Espacio Fotográfico. Held in conjunction with the 1st Oaxacan Biennale of Photography (FOTOAX14) the project aims to highlight the importance of the photographic image in contemporary life, encourage reflection about the multiple facets of the photographic medium and promote analysis of the state and national landscape.
The program commences on Thursday, 2nd of October with a series of eight lectures given by 14 speakers on a range of photographic topics including ‘Photography in Social Media’, ‘Photojournalism and Documentary Photography’, and ‘The decentralisation of Photography in Oaxaca’. On the 7th of October there will be a special evening of projections from the FOTOAX 2014 Biennale in 411 Espacio Fotográfico, La Popular, El Balcón in Central de Abastos and Taller 8 in Teotitlan del Valle. Prizes for the Biennale will be awarded at a special inauguration and ceremony at Centro Fotográfico Manuel Álvarez Bravo on October 10th.
The program will conclude with a photographic exhibition and sale at the Taller Espacio Alternativo on October 11th and 12th. Here you’ll have the opportunity to view and buy works from 25 participating photographers including Ricardo Audiffred, Fausto Nahúm Pérez Sánchez, Julio Barrita, Mario Arturo Martinez and Nelson Morales.
