This May OaxacaCine will be celebrating the work of one of the world’s leading filmmakers, Agnes Varda.
Born in Brussels in 1928, Varda escaped to France in 1940 where she became a significant figure in modern French cinema. Her films, photographs, and art installations focus on documentary realism, feminist issues, and social commentary with a distinct experimental style.
The program is a collaboration with Ambulante Gira de Documentales and will include five feature films and two programs of short films. The season runs until Tuesday, May 19 with screenings at both Teatro Macedonio Alcalá and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (MACO).
You can see more details and trailers below.
All films screened at Teatro Macedonio Alcalá will begin at 7pm and tickets are available from the theatre box office between 4-7pm each day. General entry: $30, Concession: $20.
The short film programs at MACO are free.
