0

This April Oaxaca commemorates its 485th birthday with a week-long cultural festival.

The festivities begin on Monday, April 24 with the Primer Encuentro de Cocineras Tradicionales, a gastronomic celebration of the women who are at the heart of Oaxaca’s traditional cooking.  Don’t miss this two-day event in the Plaza de la Danza, it’s a great opportunity to sample a range of traditional dishes.

In the evening the city streets will come alive with a grand parade down Macedonia Alcalá, La Noche de los Gigantes, where the streets will be taken over by giants from all eras of Oaxaca’s past, and a concert by the Oaxacan Spring Orchestra.

On Tuesday, 25 support the Guerreros de Oaxaca as they challenge the Leones de Yucatán in a free baseball game at the Estadio de Beisbol Eduardo Vasconcelos.

Throughout the week there will be artistic and theatrical interventions, photography exhibitions, workshops, dance performances, concerts, and noches de leyendas where you’ll discover Oaxaca’s legends through a series of presentations.

All events are free and you can see the daily program on our events calendar.
