Noche de las Librerías

More than 75 businesses and cultural centres will be participating in the Noche de las Librerías (Night of the bookstore) this weekend, 20 and 21 June.

Opening on Saturday morning with a screening of the children’s classic ‘The Never Ending Story’, the festival will include art, concerts, talks, poetry, book presentations, a bike ride around the city and a yo-yo competition!

If you’re looking to buy some books make sure you check out the late night sales in bookstores around the city and keep an eye out for pop-up stores in the street.  There will also be discounts in many bars, restaurants and galleries – click here to see the full list.

Concerts include local bands Bin Roll and Bird Brains in Plaza Mazari on Saturday at 5pm and Byt Band in the Foro Cultural Proveedora Escolar Matriz at 8pm.

There will be free guided tours of exhibitions including Mary Ellen Mark’s ‘Retratos con Animales’ at Centro Fotográfico Álvarez Bravo and ‘Carteles por Ayotzinapa’ at the Institute of Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca.  The Museo de Arte Contemporánea de Oaxaca, Museo de Filatelia, and the Casa de la Ciudad will also be participating.

Entry to all events is free.
