Every year, on the Día de San Ramón Nonato, the people of Oaxaca take their animals to church to receive a blessing from the local priest.
Today we went to the Templo y Ex convento de Nuestra Señora de la Merced to watch the blessings. As well as hundreds of animals including dogs, cats, birds, turtles, rabbits and guinea pigs, there was plenty of food, and music from a ten-piece marimba band.
