Celebrating Mexican Cinema

OaxacaCine will present a program of eight new Mexican films this September.

Opening on Thursday 17 with ‘Sand Dollars’ from Laura Amelia Guzman and Israel Cardenas the program will be spread over three weeks and also includes ‘El Regreso del Muerto’, ‘Tirisia’, and ‘Las Busquedas’.  You can see the full list of films and watch the trailers below.

All films will be screened at Teatro Macedonio Alcalá at 7pm and tickets are available from the theatre box office between 4-7pm each day. General entry is $30 and concession tickets are $20.

The Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca (IAGO) will also screen a selection of Mexican films each Tuesday in September including the classics ‘Él’ from Luis Buñuel, and Carlos Reygada’s  ‘Japón’.  Screenings are at 7pm and entry is free.

Rounding out the month of Mexican film is the series of classics at the Biblioteca Infantil in Xochimilco.  Screening on Saturdays at 4pm their program includes Norteado’ (special function with director Rigoberto Perezcano), ‘Salon México’, and ‘Los Caifanes.  Entry is free.
