If you have some old (or new) books that you no longer need, why not consider donating them to this new community project.
The books will be used in an independent, non-profit project organised by a group of university students from UNAM, UAM and UAQ. The group aims to provide books to a number of communities in the Sierra Mixe and Mixteca, and they are also working on a community library for the region.
This is a long-term project and the group hopes to help indigenous communities at an educational level. Coming from a position of mutual education and knowledge sharing, they will work collaboratively with residents to create new possibilities for rural communities. As well as the library, they will be organising reading, music and dance workshops.
The collection started in Mexico City and will conclude in Oaxaca on the 4th of January 2015.
