Museo Textil de Oaxaca Anniversary

0

The Museo Textil de Oaxaca (Oaxaca Textile Museum) is an innovative space dedicated to promoting the designs, techniques and creative processes used in the production of textiles in Oaxaca, Mexico, and around the world.   Through exhibitions, conferences, and workshops it aims to create encounters between the community, traditions, craftsmanship, design and contemporary art.

Located in an 18th century mansion in the heart of Oaxaca’s historical centre, the space was restored in 2007 by the Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú as part of the greater Centro Cultural San Pablo restoration project.

This month MUTO is celebrating its anniversary with a series of free guided tours.  This is the perfect opportunity to see behind the scenes and find out more about the museum’s history and collections.

The schedule is as follows:

6 April, 5pm: History and architecture of the museum.

13 April, 5pm: Visit the museum’s private collection.

19 April, 5pm: Anniversary cake and get together.

20 April, 5pm: Visit the museum’s restoration area.

27 April, 5pm: Visit the education and diffusion are.

The tours are free and last 40-50 minutes.  Each tour is strictly limited to 15 people.
